James- You certainly helped me I used to use a program called radarsync that would automatically search and download missing or outdated drivers but they recently started charging for their service. I installed the driver and my mysterious “unknown device” problem disappeared.
I have the same problem. Tuesday, February 24, 6: I had the same problem on my W thinkpad after a clean install of win8. This helped me too.

Hello sorry if this has been asked before but I’ve been looking and can’t find any answers. You only need to point the driver update to the drivers path but if you want to drill all the way down that works too.

I run Avpi 7 compatibility check and everything was fine.
